Reflection
I took this photo in Western Mass. at the Keystone Arched Bridges. I was shooting on my point and shoot camera and was not able to change any technical settings. However, after playing around with the different settings, I set the camera to the landscape setting. This seemed to work the best for the lighting and type of light present in the shot. This picture captures one of the stone bridges in the area which was built to carry trains over the river below. The bridge is being reflected in this river. To create a more dynamic shot I incorporated both the bridge and its reflection into the photo. I took this photo from a rock in the middle of the river. Holding the camera vertically allowed me to capture the bridge and the reflection in the same frame. This photo is visually interesting, I relate its visual appeal to the incorporation of object and reflection. I think that this photo produces a calming mood, the river and the bridge look cool and shady while the sun in the background is bright and warm.

Shadow
I took this photo outside at night over Christmas vacation. The picture is of the Santa Claus cut out that my family puts in front of the house. The only technical setting I used for this shot was the night setting on my camera, the setting allows all of the light present in the area to be captured in the photo. This setting also makes the picture less blurry as it does not pick up as much of the camera shake which is usually noticeable in night time photos. This photo was created by the spotlight that gets shined on the cutout, this then produces a silhouette which is cast on the side of my house. The composition of this photo consists of the spotlight in the bottom left corner of the picture and the silhouette which is cast just left of the center of the image. The most noticeable negative space is the foreground before the spotlight as this section is completely dark, the rest of the photo is fairly light, although it does get darker at the edges of the pictures. This picture does incorporate some texture because of the shrubs and bushes in the garden where the cut out is placed. The shadow in this image creates a sort of eerie feeling because of the sharp contrast between the brightness of the spotlight and the darkness of the shadows being cast.
