"The Midnight Call"
The light in this photo is coming from in front of the model, and is only illuminating the front of their body and the phone. This photo was shot against a completely black background and all of the photo which has no subject creates a kind of shadow in the image. The model in this image is shown from the torso up. He is not directly facing the camera with his body, but does have his head tilted slightly toward the camera as if he is watching for something. The photo was taken straight on, with the camera held horizontally and slightly below the height of the model. The lighting and positioning of the model in the photo communicates a feeling of loneliness and seclusion. This seclusion and the tense feel of the photo's model creates a mysterious feeling, almost as if the subject is on the run or hiding from someone.
The photo I chose to write about is extremely different than picture #2. The second photo was taken with more lights against an all white background. This and the expression of pleasant surprise on the model's face creates a lighter feeling in the photo when compared to the darker, more mysterious picture #5.
